I have often been asked by clients why I became a financial advisor. My answer is simple: I have always been interested in the world of finance and fascinated by the strategies involved in navigating the ups and downs of the economy. Very rarely do people’s passions line up with their careers, but I am lucky enough to do what I love every day.
Building My Career
Even though I knew I wanted to work in the financial industry, I had to start somewhere. I studied business administration in college and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. I had a desire to manage my own money, but I also wanted to help others do the same. This inspired me to become a financial advisor and has been a driving motivation ever since.
After graduation, I spent over 15 years working in the investment world with various firms, including Smith Barney, Banc of America Securities, and Citizens Investment Services. While I’ve always had an interest in the markets, particularly in the equity markets, I wanted to help people with more than just their investments. I obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional designation, which gave me knowledge and experience in taxes, retirement planning, wealth transfer, insurance, and other financial issues.
In 2014, I branched out and founded Boston Metro Advisor. My goal with this firm is to work with clients to assemble all the parts of their financial life, help get everything running smoothly, and continuously monitor their progress as they work with confidence toward their goals.
The Obstacles And Triumphs
There are plenty of challenges that come with this job. Owning a business and handling those many responsibilities alongside the services I provide my clients takes a lot of work. However, I can’t imagine having a different career.
It’s very fulfilling to have the opportunity to improve people’s lives and build such deep relationships with them along the way. My favorite part of this job is interacting with my clients and getting to know them and their dreams. Every day I’m driven by the strong belief in the value I bring to the table, knowing that I play an instrumental role in the lives of my clients and their family members.
